When Should Toddlers Do Puzzles

Being a parent, you always try to find the right time and place to introduce new toys to your kids. Puzzles are the most beloved toys for kids of all ages and generations.

The question is 'What age can toddler do puzzles?'.

The history of puzzles is so long that nowadays we cannot even remember who didn’t play these with these whimsy pieces among our relatives, friends, acquaintances, etc.

Their profound history also gave the possibility to develop this niche into one of the most diversified and demanding.

There are puzzles for almost any age!
As a parent, you need to pay attention only to the fact of puzzle materials and their difficulty level.
If you have infants or toddlers of age 1-3 years that try to 'taste' every object they see, then you should stop at wooden puzzles of big shapes. Every puzzle piece should be bigger than 1,18 inches, all corners of the puzzle should be well rounded and have no sharp corners to protect your kids during the play.

Here come one-piece puzzles, two-piece puzzles, whimsy puzzles boards, knobbed puzzles, puzzles with handles, pegged puzzles. Simple puzzles for matching games will be the greatest educational toys at this age. Puzzle shapes must be simple and images easy to understand for toddlers. Consider purchasing wild animal puzzles, pets puzzles, farm animal puzzles, forest animal puzzles, ocean and sea life animals, bugs, and birds puzzles for kids, colors and flowers puzzles, etc. Such toddler puzzles improve eye to hand coordination, spatial knowledge, fine motor skills, foster cognitive development of your kids.

If your kids are already 3-5 years old than better to search for puzzles with 4,5 or 6 pieces. Even 12 pieces puzzles are working well at this age. The puzzle pieces themself cannot still be smaller than 1,18 inches, though the images can be well detailed, and shapes of the puzzles can be more difficult for interlocking. Puzzle at this age must promote logical thinking, eye-hand coordination, language skills, memory, fine motor skills.

If you have kids ages 4-8 than its time to buy 24 puzzle pieces or more. The number of pieces in the puzzles may differ and have s different value.  The harder the puzzle the older your kid should be, or more experienced in puzzle play.

The difficulty of puzzles depends not only on the number of puzzle pieces but also on its cut line and images. Find puzzles with great image dualization and unique cutting line to challenge your kids. You can freely choose any of the cardboard puzzles for your kids, but if you want them to serve for years - better invest in wooden ones.
Wooden puzzles for boys and girls with more than 20 pieces improve a lot of analytical and logical thinking of kids, enhance memory skills and their creativity.

All in all, as a parent you know what is better for your kids. Be sure that you will make some mistakes but only they will make you a better and more experienced parent.
